I am an artist working in Toronto, Ontario. My landscapes and life drawings were done with
charcoal and pastels on paper, usually newspaper pages. These drawings are from around Grand Lake, Newfoundland, near the town of Howley where I grew up. The lake was flooded in 1924 with the construction of Main Dam, the reason for all the driftwood. Four-foots left over from the pulp and paper industry can still be seen on the beaches.
I would make an easel by lashing alder branches together and set up on the beach or in the boat.
