These drawings were done with charcoal and pastels—around Grand Lake, near my hometown of
Howley, Newfoundland. The construction of Main Dam, in 1924, flooded the lake—the reason for all the driftwood.
Four-foots left over from Bowaters, the pulp and paper company, can still be seen on the beaches.
