These pictures were drawn with charcoal and pastels—around Grand Lake, near my hometown of
Howley, Newfoundland. In 1924, when Main Dam was built, the lake rose, and the land was flooded.
It may be the reason for all the driftwood. 'Four-foots' left over from Bowaters, the pulp and paper company,
